  • My short-term career goals are to co-create more effective, equity-minded processes and supports alongside teacher candidates as they seek teacher certification. Looking ahead, I hope to use my current role and experiences to advocate for policy changes within Washington state teacher preparation.

What you are doing now: I currently work as an independent education consultant where I accept collaboration in research and education program implementation in developing countries. My recent projects include research on education decentralization in Indonesia and documentation of Indonesian languages projects with UH Manoa linguistic department researchers.

What you are doing now: Currently, I serve as the Project Coordinator for Early College programming for 8 kaiapuni (immersion) and Hawaiian-culture based schools across the pae ʻāina (Oʻahu, Kauaʻi, Big Island, Maui County). Additionally, I have engaged in collaborative grant writing, receiving several Title III grant awards, community grants, and grant extensions. I will be moving on to pursue my doctorate in Fall 2023 to earn a joint doctorate in Educational Policy Studies and History

Sydney Suzuki

The birth of deep-rooted issues within our education system from local to national to global levels.  I love exploring varying perspectives and possible solutions to problems that do not have a clear answer.

Born and raised on the Big Island (Kona).

Previous education: I have a Bachelors in Elementary Education
 
Career goals: 
Currently, to continue working as an educator at a secondary level.  As time goes on, I may have goals to become an administrator.

What you are doing now: 
I am a high school AVID teacher for grades 9-12.  My responsibility is to give first generation students the tools and skills to pursue a higher education.
